Adulting

Adulting

Hello lovelies,

It’s been a while since I last posted on my blog and I have to say I’ve missed it so much! The semester came on quick and while I had so much inspiration on things to write about, I had no time to give it what it deserved. I could’ve kept writing but I didn’t want it to feel like a waste and something I just threw on a page. I’m hoping that while on break from school I’ll be able to put time back into something I love so much.

The semester brought on so many great opportunities and with them responsibility. I would say I was borderline adulting. Yes, I know what you’re thinking- I’m a college student, I am growing up and being an adult is something you have to start doing when you go away to college, get used to it Em! However, I don’t think taking 18 credits, working three jobs, not to mention an internship on top of the three jobs, and being in a collegiate sport was a part of the deal.

Ok, don’t get me wrong, this was an amazing semester. Like I said, I had so many great opportunities and grew so much through what I learned. But guys, adulting is hard work. I found myself exhausted, I was being pulled in so many different directions and I had to come to each leaving whatever else was going on in my life at the door. It was super stressful and my time management wasn’t perfect, at the beginning, it was a struggle juggling everything. I contemplated cutting things out for a bit but I am not a quitter. My mother never let me quit, she always said just finish and then see how you feel. It usually always ended with me loving it and enjoying the entire experience. With her in my ear, I couldn’t just throw in the towel and be ok with it. Plus, I am a full believer in doing what I love, and all that is in my life is exactly that.

So, I did something else instead. I learned to accept the challenge. Of course, this got harder before it got easier but it was all worth it. Once I accepted the challenge and decided that everything had its place in my day, my stress vastly decreased. I started finding time in my day because I had the motivation to finish my work faster. I got to spend more time with my friends and actually had time for date nights with my boyfriend. This doesn’t work for everyone and there are still days I want to stay in bed and play hooky, but even the hard days still bring joy and bring more to my life than at the start of the year.

Now that the semester is over I am excited to slow down a little bit. I look forward to spending time with the ones I love, catching up with friends who are in town for the holidays and giving my time to all of you.

I can’t wait!
